Day 1: Historic Walking Tour and Food!

Today is the day to get introduced to Charleston and it's architecture and history. Start the day with an enjoyable historical walking tour. I suggest the freetoursbyfoot company as these are volunteers and it helps out local. Historical walking tour

Now I am sure you have worked up an appetite, so why not continue your exploration with a great Food tour! This will continue with stories and history of Charleston paired with some fantastic food! I am all about the local culture and local food Food tour There are also dessert walking tours full of donuts and beignets, or street food tours. So much to offer!

And then, to end your first day, what better way than to do this on a sunset cruise. Charleston is all about charm and antiquity, but you are on the water, which has its own history. There are friendly beaches and calm waters. Most likely you will see dolphins once you set sail. A good recommendation for a sunset cruise is Sunset Cruise

Day 2: King Street shopping and Exploration

Today splurge a little and relax by exploring with a carriage ride Carriage Tour Then, as you are on King Street, take the time to explore all the fun shops and activities in front of you. This is a good place to stop for lunch as well, or try some Frose.

For the afternoon, take a walk along the waterfront. This is absolutely beautiful. Everyone stops by the famous pineapple fountain for a quick cool down as well as photo-op.

Wander over to Rainbow Row for the colorful houses all in a row. Now, there are choices to make for the rest of your day. For more history, I suggest either Fort Sumter or Fort Moultrie. Fort Sumter is where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. You need to book a boat to get to Fort Sumter, there are plenty of tours. And Fort Moultrie is famous for repelling the British during the Revolutionary War. This is a quick drive to Sullivan's Island. There are tours that combine both. Fort Tours

Or, you could stroll the historical mansions that are all around you. There is the Nathanial Russell house (my favorite), Aiken-Rhett house and many others. Nathanial Russell.

Or, another great option, I would suggest exploring some of the beautiful gardens. Magnolia Plantation is beautiful and there are plenty of tour opportunities. Magnolia Plantation

Have a quiet end of your day with a lovely dinner at the Husk. Or maybe have a cocktail with a 360 degree view of the harbor at the Citrus Club. There are many lovely things to do and enjoy in Charleston. These are the highlights I would suggest if you only have 2 days to explore.
